Personally, I'd want to have the game completed before making a demo, as that almost eliminates the possibility of changing something the demo used after you released the demo. It's probably not a good idea to delete things in the database though, in case you accidentally delete something you need. You can edit things in the database, probably - like maybe changing note tags or altering common events or troop events. Adding events to a map should also be somewhat safe, for similar reasons, though if you add an event that has a particular ID, and then in the full version you add another event that has the same ID, then self switches of the demo event will apply to the full game event, so I'd just suggest trying to avoid self switches in demo-only events. When you delete an event, the editor leaves a null event in its place so that event IDs never change, so deleting events should be safe, I think. I suspect that as long as you only delete things, but not in the database, you should be able to make a demo that works and creates saves compatible with the main game.ĭeleting maps is one possibility, but you could also delete events.
